What does Accessibility Mean?
Accessibility strives to make physical, social, and online spaces usable by as many people as possible. For this website, accessibility means
- making text easy to read,
- having alt-text and descriptions for images, and
- making sure the site works with accessibility programs.
What is an Accessible Template
Websites often use templates, which bring a consistent look to the web pages. We strive to use accessibility-ready templates. Before using a template, we will check to ensure it meets WCAG 2.1 AA. When a template does not meet WCAG 2.1 AA, we will replace it or use a plugin to supplement the accessible needs.
Headers
We will use text headers in a way that meets the WCAG 2.1AA standard. When possible, we include a context list at the top of the page to go to a section directly.
Images and graphics
We will use alt-text for images to meet the WCAG 2.1AA standard. When in-depth description is needed for an image, like a graph, we strive to link to the original data source.
Videos
All videos shared on our site are captions or links to a transcript.
Text size
The default text size used on the website is 12 (the default font is Arial). We will ensure that increasing the text size of zooming text are available on our site.
Language
We strive to use precise language on this website. However, our work has some specific language, which is helpful. As such, there are some tricky words we must use. When we must use jargon, we will define it in a section at the bottom of the post.
If there is a post that is hard to read, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us, and we will work on making it easier to read.

Jargon Explained
Alt Text is a description of an image or graphic. The text description is not visible on the website or document. Instead, it is used by software that makes technology accessible.
WCAG is an accessibility standard for websites.
